Welcome from the President
Dear Friends of DePaul Cristo Rey,
DePaul Cristo Rey High School is a reality! Named after St. Vincent de Paul, our school is the newest member of the national Cristo Rey Network of high schools and under the patronage of Cristo Rey/Christ the King. Jesus compared the Kingdom of God to the mustard seed – the tiniest of all seeds which grows into a large tree sheltering birds of every color. What a wonderful image for us at DePaul Cristo Rey!
Mustard seed indeed! With more than 100 students from across Greater Cincinnati, 20 staff members who all perform multiple tasks, and more than 40 Corporate Partners, our tiny seed is already sprouting with life beyond our wildest imagination. The people who comprise DPCR are the birds of many colors – each unique, each gifted, each with a heritage and story, each part of forming the community that is our school. We can already imagine how the tree will branch each year, becoming a home to more and more students, faculty, families and community partners as we grow.
We know we are part of the Reign of God as we learn about our students, hear the stories of their work experiences – greeting customers, transporting patients, handling paperwork – watch them in our classrooms, Tablet PCs at hand, asking questions, tackling tough math problems, helping one another. But how we really know we are part of the Reign of God is our coming to know the hopes and dreams their families and teachers have for them and that all of our students hold in their own hearts. Thanks for building the Reign of God with us at DePaul Cristo Rey!
