Rey of Light Supports a “School Making A Difference”
Mark your Calendar for April 29
“The people who come to Rey of Light understand the need for change in our community to break the cycle of poverty. They see that this school is making a difference.”
Michele Schuster, past Rey of Light chair
The Rey of Light Scholarship Benefit for Students, to be held April 29, is one very big way that friends of DePaul Cristo Rey make a difference. This will be the fifth year for the dinner auction which has raised more than $1.6 million in financial assistance for DPCR student in its short history.
Alison and Tim Warning are chairing the April 29 event and they’re hoping to raise hundreds of thousands more dollars because every DPCR student receives financial aid, and Rey of Light is the single, largest source of scholarship funding. The Warnings are assisted by vice chairs Julie and Brian Ross and an energetic volunteer committee. (Alison is shown on the right and Julie on the left.)
Rey of Light will begin at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction. Dinner and the live auction will follow. Again this year, all silent auction bidding will be done electronically via cell phones.
