Senior Earns Prestigious National Scholarship

DPCR Senior Yirialis has been named a 2026 Gates Scholar. There were 61,000 seniors nationwide who applied for a Gates Scholarship this year and only 750, or one percent, were selected as Gates Scholars.

The Gates Scholarship recognizes high school seniors who demonstrate impressive academic performance, leadership aptitude, and strong personal character. The award includes full funding for college not covered by other financial aid. This includes tuition, fees, room, board, books, transportation, and other personal costs.

Yirialis, who is the DePaul Cristo Rey Class of 2026 valedictorian, will use the Gates Scholarship at the University of Notre Dame where she will study political science on a pre-law track.
