Stephen Cassady Named Interim Principal

Steve assumes this new role following Principal Jim Schurrer’s appointment as school president. Steve has been a member of DePaul Cristo Rey’s Academic Leadership Team since 2022 serving as dean of academics for Grades 9-10, and he has been instrumental in advancing the academic priorities of the school’s Vision 2026 Strategic Plan.

Prior to joining the DPCR staff, Steve served as a teacher and administrator in schools in Philadelphia and Brooklyn. He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Xavier University and a master’s degree in education from Hunter College.

The search for DPCR’s next permanent principal will begin this fall.
