Students On-the-Job Performance Drives DPCR to a #4 Ranking in the Cristo Rey Network®
Making a strong impression in the Greater Cincinnati business community, DePaul Cristo Rey students are ranked fourth out of 32 Cristo Rey Network® high schools (11,500 students) for their on-the-job performance in the Corporate Work Study Program. This ranking shows continued, significant growth from one year ago when DePaul Cristo Rey ranked seventh in the Network.
Students at all Cristo Rey schools, including DPCR, are evaluated on a scale of one to five for their business practices, skills and learning behaviors on the job. At DPCR those evaluations are completed quarterly by their job supervisors and the rating translates into a grade and academic credit.
A year-long emphasis on preparing and supporting students for workplace success is a cornerstone of this success. Every new student entering DPCR for the 2018-19 school year is participating in a mandatory two-week summer CORE (Corporate Office Readiness Enrichment) training. This includes business fundamentals such as phone and technology skills, customer service, and note-taking. In addition, throughout the school year students receive ongoing training and support to enhance their business skills and address any workplace challenges.
The Corporate Work Study Program is an integral part of a Cristo Rey education. Combined with a challenging college-prep curriculum, this dual-focus model prepares all students to enter and succeed in college.
