With new challenges and more students, DePaul Cristo Rey’s third annual Bruin Academic Bowl was bigger and better than ever.
DPCR annual hosts this academic competition for seventh and eighth grade students in which they use critical thinking skills, teamwork and creativity to successfully navigate around the campus completing academic challenges in the areas of English, Mathematics, Religion, Science, and Social Studies.
In addition, the more than 140 participants enjoyed an added STEM challenge to build the tallest, free-standing tower from spaghetti and marshmallows. The competition concluded with the very popular “lightning round” of current events questions. When the final scores were tallied the following teams took trophies back to their schools:
8th Grade First Place – St. Lawrence Blue Team
8th Grade Second Place – St. Joseph Blue Team
8th Grade Third Place – St. William Red Team
7th Grade First Place – St. William Pink Team
