Rey of Light Raises More Than $630,000 for Scholarships – Thank You!
A sold-out, generous crowd, unique auction items and a great cause all combined to make the fifth annual Rey of Light Scholarship Benefit for Students an enormous success. Held at DePaul Cristo Rey on April 29, the gala evening is the school’s largest and most significant fundraiser to support financial assistance for students. Every DePaul Cristo Rey student receives financial aid to attend the school.
This year’s event netted more than $630,000 for the DePaul Cristo Rey Scholarship Fund. A sold-out crowd of more than 460 filled the Student Center to capacity and led to the addition of an outside courtyard tent to hold the cocktail hour overflow. In the five years the school has hosted this event, it has now raised over $2 million in financial aid funds.
During the live auction, the audience watched this video in which two seniors shared their compelling stories of struggle and success. It was shown just prior to the Fund-A-Need paddle raise for scholarships which alone raised more than $260,000 in scholarship funds.
Rey of Light was chaired by Alison and Tim Warning with Julie and Brian Ross serving as co-chairs.

Mark your calendars - next year’s Rey of Light will shine on April 28, 2018.
