From the Campaign Chairs
Just over a year ago we volunteered to chair the very first capital campaign for a very young high school. While many were surprised that a school as new as DePaul Cristo Rey, without a donor base of alumni and parents, is already undertaking an ambitious campaign, no one said it couldn’t be done. Like us, when we were each first introduced to DePaul Cristo Rey, friends and supporters are drawn to the school’s mission. We live in a city with a persistent childhood poverty rate that is among our country’s worst. We, and those supporting this campaign, agree that DPCR’s academic focus combined with the unparalleled opportunities of the Corporate Work Study Program, provide a program that counteracts childhood poverty, one student at a time.
The early successes at DPCR – 100 percent college acceptance of all senior classes, students persisting through college and approaching their graduations – convinced us that we must do all we can to ensure that DePaul Cristo Rey flourishes. A safe campus, appropriate facilities, support for graduates – these are all critical to DePaul Cristo Rey’s growth. The early success of the campaign gives hope that many agree with us!
We extend our personal thanks to all who have made early gifts and brought new friends to the school. As construction begins, we celebrate this early success but we know there is still much work to be done – on campus and in meeting our campaign goal. We now invite everyone who believes in this school to join us in support as we are Building. Futures. Together. for a Greater Cincinnati.
